It’s almost time for 2022’s Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference, which will be held at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL, from June 27th – 30th.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the event which is produced by the non-profit organization, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP). In case you’re not familiar with HITEC, it’s the world’s most distinguished expo in the industry and features speakers from top hospitality technology companies.

The event is highly informative, bringing you insights from industry experts on how to use the latest technologies to run your business more efficiently and increase your revenue. It also involves educational sessions about these novel solutions so you can stay ahead of the game.

In other words, HITEC is the place to be if you want to thoroughly explore all the latest innovations under one roof.

What to Expect

This year’s conference is a great opportunity to find out more about important trends shaping the future of travel and hospitality. The first day includes the session, “HITEC in a Nutshell: Top 2022 Technology Topics”, which will help you decide which sessions to join after.

A few technologies that will be discussed over the course of the event include:

  • Cryptocurrency and non-fungible technology token (NFT) Technology. Some hotels are already using Bitcoin, and this session explores a case study to see how it works in-practice. It will also cover the possible uses of NFTs – cryptographic assets which cannot be replicated. These tokens are recorded using blockchain technology, and they provide users with proof of ownership of digital assets. Applications of NFT technology include marketing and customer loyalty programs, as well as assigning digital assets within the Metaverse. The session will also explore how NFTs are being used successfully in other industries.

  • In a recent article on digitization, we briefly mentioned the role that metaverse technology may have in the hotels of the future. HITEC sessions will cover the topic in depth, revealing the opportunities and challenges involved and how we can prepare to take on this new technology in the coming years.

  • Data Science. This session gets beyond the buzzword and into the real meat of what data science is about and how it can benefit the industry, including examples of real scenarios where it’s already in-use. You will also discover some important considerations for effective data-driven decision making, and the advantages and disadvantages of hiring a dedicated data science team.

  • F&B sustainability. This session explores the intricacies of why sustainability is crucial for your operations. Thanks to industry leaders who are already making powerful changes, find out how you can not only improve sustainability in F&B departments, but improve your bottom line at the same time.
