When we were asked by SiteMinder if we’d like to support and contribute to their new industry initiative, HomeForHotels, there was only one answer.
Designed to help hotel businesses navigate through the uncertainty of COVID-19, HomeForHotels is an online platform dedicated to:
- Listening by hosting and sharing online panel discussions
- Engaging with hotelier stories of success and recovery
- Advocating ways to act on behalf of the industry in each country around the world
- Informing by sharing data and industry insight
As you might guess, our answer was, “yes please”.
Where did the idea come from?
“Through all the uncertainty that we’re currently experiencing with COVID-19, we realized hoteliers need the industry to support and fight for them,” explains SiteMinder’s Elisa Boston. “So, we’ve been madly pulling together a place for them to go for action, advice, data and insights into the impact and recovery in countries around the world, giving them context for their own circumstances.”
The result is a brilliant website which includes stories from hotels whose proactive decisions have helped them survive during the pandemic.
InnQuest will be contributing to HomeForHotels with stories from the frontline of its own hotel customers. Just as we’ve continued to publish advice on the blog you’re reading right now, the opportunity to reach an even wider audience via HomeForHotels means an awful lot to our team.
The website is in its fledgling stage at the moment, but the content available already will undoubtedly help hoteliers across the world.
The World Hotel Index
Alongside HomeForHotels, SiteMinder is also launching the World Hotel Index (WHI), which provides real-time data and commentary for the hotel and travel industry.
SiteMinder hopes the WHI will help hoteliers react quickly to signs of recovery in their area, gain more confidence about anticipated demand and put themselves ahead of the competition to attract the first wave of guests.
Here’s the official word from SiteMinder on today’s launch:
”Snapshots and complete analyses of the SiteMinder World Hotel Index are available – another initiative launched today, led by SiteMinder and backed by Airbnb, EasyWay, Hotelkit, InnQuest, Oaky, Preno, Protel and RoomPriceGenie as the founding supporters. With a pledge of ‘Information, Engagement, Advocacy’, HomeForHotels has been created to give hoteliers access to the booking patterns within every major tourist destination, via the World Hotel Index; real stories of other hoteliers; and a lifeline through industry programs that are making a real difference.”
We look forward to seeing how HomeForHotels develops, and would like to thank SiteMinder for giving us the opportunity to get involved.
